The project seeks to discover a profound relationship between place and the cultural history in the territory: the doors to the city in Perugia, are great passages, where the symbolic civil value is added to a peculiar way of inhabiting space in relation to the topography. It seems to us to be indispensable to recuperate and protect these experiences by revealing the proceeding valueof the culture of this city.

The configuration of the historic door to the city of Perugia being in the form of a trapezoid has the added benefit of producing public spaces of both urban and civil value. This is also true of our project proposal: the pedestrian ramp, which slowly rises towards the grand foyer and later descends into a staircase allows for the point of entry to thecomplex to be emphasized, yet at the same time manages to configure a “public space”: a place belonging to the building and at the same time to the landscape.
